While the Altdorf band were fighting for their lives in the deep of the Reikwald Forrest, blood was also spilled to the East…
It would never be yule-tide at Dunkeldorf. What remained of the village were but the most distasteful of the bones of the unfortunate villagers. For ogres eat all… flesh, bone, coin and houses and their trail through Stirland had been like a menu laid out before them.
But their feast would come to a halt as they crossed into the cursed lands of Sylvania. At nightfall they reached The Halfway House. A lonely candlelight flickered from the window, with a hint of promise. The house itself leaning East against a couple of nearby trees. Beyond the house the faint outline of a forgotten graveyard. Forgotten by the living at least.
The Mountain Eaters of the Rock Skulls Tribe was lead by Facesmasher, a huge ogre indeed. But as he was still digesting much of Dunkeldorf, he has send much of his army ahead. In particular a Firebelly leading a host of maneaters North towards the house.
A pale figure by the graves raised his arms high summoning to him, his already considerable force of the dead. Him and his 40 Skeletons marched forward almost reaching the Halfway House. On his left ghastly ghouls took position behind an old fence, protecting the East flank. A powerful necromancer made up the rear, with a small groups of skeleton guards and a corpse cart for ample supply of bodies. Many of which would soon rise to join the battle.
Zombies took position on the West flank.
The Mountain Eaters now reached the house. Leadbelchers invaded the Half Way House and maneaters charged the ghouls in an all powerful charge, barely slowed by the fence. An armored vampire stepped forward amongst the ghouls and soon cut down a mighty maneater champion in a fury of blood frenzy not seen since the days of Konrad von Carstein. Speaking of which.. there was disturbing resemblance. The Maneaters were confident in their numbers and the strength of their bellies though, they hacked and slashed the ghouls to bit while the firebelly engulfed yet more in an inferno of flames. Such was their destruction that only a handful of ghouls remained.
Skycannons were moved into position, they skilfully ingored the ghostly apparations creaping up on them but alas one of the cannons exploded in a violent misfire. Finally the battle was joined as Facesmasher and his ironguts marched in on the battlefield.
As the leadbelchers in the Halfway house unleashed hell on a unit of skeletons, the large unit of undead assulted the building. With Lord Smogg in charge, flanked by two beautiful vampiresses, they made short work of the leadbelchers and took over the house. Meanwhile the possibly Konrad von Carstein went insane on the Maneaters cutting down ogres left and right. A banshee scream was heard and in the end the unit fled and was destroyed by persuing ghouls.
Throughout the battle ghosts and wraiths took out the last sky cannon and soon living dead crept in on Facesmasher and his iron guts from all sides. It was with a bit of luck and tactical deception that Facesmasher avoided a direct fight against Lord Smogg and his skeletons as the battle reached it’s end, the living dead had secured the Halfway House forcing Facesmasher to withdraw back into Stirland.
