Dagoberdt the gold wizard swallowed down another glass of wine and asked Frederich: “So, your family breed horses… what about women?” his eyes dwelling down Wanda’s generous cleavage. Frederich easily played along. “Oh yes, I am sure you would be impressed”. Dagoberdt continued not knowing that he was loosing his coin to the Halfling hiding under the table. “And they have large tracks of lands?”. Frederich nodded and ordered some more wine. Dagoberdt smiled as his cup was refilled “Well in that case my lord Theodocious would be happy to accept a dinner invitation at your family mansion.”.
At the Luxerious Chicken the group filled in their Halfling in on their latest adventurers. They also learned from general gossip that Friedrich von Kaufman has planned a party celebrating the return of his expedition. To be held at Marktag 13th.
The party shop some leather armor and shields before the stores close for the evening and the rain.
The party then discover that Theodosious and his retenue has taken up in the Last Journey Inn. They join part of his retinue which consist of Dagoberdt Gabor, a gold wizard a jester and two of Theodosious’ ladies in waiting: Wanda and Sybil.
The party distract the wizard while their Halfling steals money from the wizard. Frederich von Feschhosen manage to invite Theodosious’s retinue to the Von Feschhosen mansion for dinner.
In the evening the party is approaced by Marcus Baerfaust who invite the party for dinner at the Sword of Sigismund. He express interest in their battle with the mutants and inquire about where it happened, how they were armed, how many they were and other details. He seems concerned about the stolen black powder.
He did not put too much into the party’s explanations about the “Black Cowl” saying that many people really do wear black cloaks, and generally grumbled about the killings at the docks being wizards business, while not really having too much faith in the work of Konrad Mauer.
Meeting up at the Red Arrow Office, the party is dressed up in Red Arrow uniforms and Curd Weiss provide instructions about their mission. To escort Clothilde von Alptraum in her carriage and hopefully draw out some of the highway men who pray on the coaches.
The coach is on the way, and the party has a bit of talk with Clothilde, who is very skilled at the who social game, leaving Friedrich staggered with his heart pounding, likely having taken a whole more positive view on the Gravin.
The party hear a signal some distance back and moments after, highwaymen demand the Von Alptraum Diamond. The party surpise the robbers and kill them off, leaving one for interrogation. They do discover:
- One was wearing the Averland State Uniform under his clothe.
- Two pistols bear the mark of the Averheim Garrison
- An iron key
- The horses were Von Feschhosen stolen from Frederich ’s cousin Marlene von Feschhosen.
Waking up to a sunny fine day, the party heads back to Averheim. Here they return the horses to Marlene von Feschhosen, who in turn agree to host a dinner for them and the Von Tuchtenhagens in the evening.
They also threaten the surviving bandit to tell what he knows.
- He relate that during the last 2-3 weeks he has been receiving information from the Black Cowl on targets.
- The black cowl only contacted them at night in their camp.
- He has been fencing off stolen goods to the Black Cowl. The Alptraum Diamond is the first major target.
- He is a long term highway man, having been on the road for 2 years
- The bald guy in the Averland uniform only just joined two weeks ago.
