Thanks to the Altdorf Band, the dwarves of Karak-Azgaraz were persuaded to attempt break the siege against them and seek to aid Schluesselschloss.
It was dawn and as the mist cleared, both the dwarves and the rear of the Waaagh! were prepared. It was clear that the dwarves faced a mighty force, even if this was just the very rear of the Waaagh!, left behind to keep them in check.
The Battle Followed Special Scenario Rules.
Hagar Greybeard looked to Gromnir “The Boar” Dorisson. They had joined some of the more sturdy dwarves of the Karak, and they were all grumpy and ready to bash some greenskins with their great-weapons.
Behind them 2 Cannons and 2 Grudge Throwers were deployed.
Washnack Gorejaw put up a mighty battleline, including two full hordes of Night Goblins and many heros. Personally he oversaw the battle from the middle, riding his terrible wyvern Bonemauler. To his left were chariots and wolfriders and on his right was a nice snotling pumpwagon.
The rear of the Waaagh! had to hold at any cost!…
… well not at any cost obviously, but almost.
KARAK-AZGARAZ TURN 1
Grumpy dwarves were working overtime loading their cannons and grudge throwers. Both grudge throwers loaded with huge blocks of stone. But not just any stones, these were pieces of stone floor where Lore Master Barrinson and Rune Smith Kneesmasher had fallen to the nightgoblins some 500 years ago. Each area of stone floor had been carefully carved out and preserved for a mighty grudge. Today was the day, and as if the stones remembered, they hit home with a vengeance, almost wiping out one horde with the start of the battle!.
Washnack and his wyvern took a hit by a cannon ball as well, knocking the warboss off his mount. “Hold the line you worthless maggots” he yelled at the goblins as he retreated back to his main Waaagh!. His job was done after all, having inspired the troops and diverted the cannon shots.
Dwarves advanced a bit, not nothing to speak off.
WAAAGH! TURN 1
Bonemauler refused to retreat with his master and instead padded forward groggy from the cannon ball hit. Nightgoblins advanced and chariots assumed flanking a flanking position. The wolfriders advanced on the grudgethrower. The goblin shamans managed to get a few spells off.
KARAK-AZGARAZ TURN 2
Dwarf miners emerged though secret tunnels in the mountains and arrived behind the Waaagh! formations, also releasing some fanatics. Meanwhile the war machines maintained the pressure on the Waaagh! taking out a few more greenskins.
WAAAGH! TURN 2
Nightgoblins charge the dwarves and manage to boost their combat with some shaman magic, letting them have poison. Their netters also doing a good job. Bonemauler moves out on the right flank and wolfriders overpower a grudge thrower.
KARAK-AZGARAZ TURN 3
Still engaged for another round against the night goblins, they end up fleeing. Goblins do not manage to catch the dwarves. War machines destroy the wolf riders.
WAAAGH! TURN 3
Bonemauler prepares to charge the miners and clean up in the rear. A hero goblin charge out and overruns the fleeing dwarves. The rest of the WAAAGH! turns around to deal with the rear menace.
With 3 unharmed units behind the waaagh! things are not looking too good for the greenskins.
KARAK-AZGARAZ TURN 4
Two cannons focus on Bonemauler and forces it to retreat back to the main Waaagh! with its master. The miners all brace themselves behind obstacles and in the woods, preparing for a last effort by the greenskins to kill them.
WAAAGH! TURN 4
A small unit of nightgoblins make a suicide attempt on the largest unit of dwarfs, killing maybe 2-3 dwarves in the progress. The other unit advance on the dwarves together with a chariot.
KARAK-AZGARAZ TURN 5
War Machines take out the last chariot and dwarves make some weird movement behind the lines.
WAAAGH! TURN 5
Night goblins advance further on the dwarves bracing for another round of war machine fire.
KARAK-AZGARAZ TURN 6
Dwarves take out a good number of goblins, halving their numbers.
WAAAGH! TURN 6
In a last effort the goblins charge two units of miners, managing to reduce the numbers of one unit so they don’t count towards a crushing victory.
Karak-Azgaraz are finally victorious having 2 units of 10 or more dwarves in waaagh! deployment zone, granting them their well deserved victory. Karak-Azgaraz should be able to arrive at Schluesselschloss during the siege and hopefully make a good difference!
