At the far end of the Empire lies an inconsequential fishing village where a series of not-so-inconsequential events are about to take place. Surrounded by the Cursed Marshes, the village of Fauligmere is about to become the unlikely stage for an adventure of unbridled sorcery where nothing is as it seems..
The Altdorf Band made their way towards Fauligmere. A village located North of Marienburg. On the way they encountered Father Anders, who told them he had seen them in a vision. He pleaded with the party to deal with the witch in Fauligmere. They accepted the task.
Once in Fauligmere, the party were welcomed by Baron Eldred von Stauffer. The ruler of the city. He also extended a dinner invitation.
The party spent the afternoon investigating the witch attack. By talking to various people including but not limited to Pirn van Beek (Injured young hero), Saskia van Oort (Healer) and Bram Wiegers (Smith), they pieced together the attack:
- Happened a few hours after midnight
- Dogs started barking
- Villagers approached the intruder: Young looking man, dressed like a savage with golden hair and blue eyes.
- As the witch is attacked he begins to sing in an eery tune causing fear
- Witch sets building on fire
- Pirn van Beek attacks witch with spear but is consumed by fire.
- Villagers panicked and the witch escaped.
Late the Altdorf Band enjoy a dinner at Von Stauffers Mansion. They meet Lady Theodora von Stauffer, Baroness Wandelina and Elven Envoy Voluria. There is some casual conversaion where there party manage to impress the baron but displease mother Theodora. Wolfgang Koommezzell impress with his knowledge of the Hagersdorf Blue Pigeons and he manage to ask Voluria for her story. She reveal her objective to find a lost elven ship and treasure dating back to the war of the beard. She will share part of the treasure for assistance.
After dinner and brandy, the party head off to The Three Hogs. Unfortunatly the inn keeper Thomas de Gaude and his son are missing. They never returned from the swamp!
Being heros, the Altdorf Band head into the swamp to find the lost couple. They manage to track them down but are then ambushed by two nasty rivertolls! Taking some serious beating, they do manage to gain the upper hand on the trolls, but then the beast attacked from below. A huge tentacled beast appeared and tried to swallow Ziegfried von Königsberg. This was an epic fight where Brother Maynard did his very best to keep the party alive. Unfortunatly Ziegfried got swallowed more and more, unable to escape until at last only his hand could be seen from his mouth. But just when all hope seemed gone and the band was ready to flee, Marcus Strauss made a final effort to pull Ziegfried from the jaw of the beast. In an impressive feat of strength he was successfull.
The party escaped and tired to find their way home, only to be lured into quackmire by witchlights. After sinking and struggeling for a while a strange Hermit came into sight. He lead the party to his home, in a dark foreboding cave. After a small meal and sleep, the hermit led the party back to Fauligmere before he disapeared.
The strange man had not said a single word throughout the whole encounter.
Soaked and with just enough rest, the Altforf band is now back in Fauligmere. The town is waking up as well
